Tiche Synergia: Heroides by Slavica Veselinovic

Tiche Synergia and Creative People in Florence are pleased to present Heroides by photographer Slavica Veselinovic, an experimental project that combines mythology, distant reminiscences and an inexplicable sense of unease, all with a surrealist undertone. Please join us for the opening on Friday, 16 October from 3-8pm.
These photographs portray two female figures who represent “heroines of a lost country”. With the geometric forms, circles and lines painted onto their faces and blackened hands, the two subjects embody the mothers of the now dissolved Eastern Bloc with its double Slavic and Central European root.
The elements with which the two figures interact, though ordinary objects, conceal deeper significance. Lava stone represents the bond with Mother Earth, a symbol of strength and courage, that offers stability throughout the volatility of a lifetime. The octopus symbolizes complexity, diversity, mystery and illusion as it can camouflage itself when it feels threatened and avoid danger by blending into the surrounding rock or sand. The veil, or the fabric that sometimes covers the heads of the subjects, represents protection, while the egg suggests both new life and the loss of innocence. These elements, in combination with the two subjects, convey a sense of unfamiliarity and strangeness to the viewer, relegating everything to pure illusion: a mental projection rather than reality itself. Each image is an enigma, a poem, an atmosphere.
Tiche Synergia, a collaboration between Tiche and Creative People in Florence, is a new multi-faceted project highlighting contemporary craftsmanship, design and photography in Florence. The spacious new atelier of the fashion brand Tiche will host a series of Florence-based artisans and designers, who will present site-specific installations using the materials and objects of their craft, alongside a special selection of works and products in conversation with the recent collections and mission of Tiche. Tiche Synergia invites the artisans and photographers to reframe the objects of their craft as works of art, looking beyond their value as commercial products, offering a space for experimentation, research and innovation.
The Greek goddess of luck and chance, Tiche is also the protectress of cities and fortune, which perhaps holds a new resonance in the changing and often-unpredictable landscape of our current times. Emphasizing the opportunity for growth, experimentation and renewal, the project’s title, Tiche Synergia in fact reflects its central aims: to spark new ideas and connections between the artisans and designers of the city, and to envision the future of the city as one of innovation and collaboration.
Slavica Veselinovic is a Slovenian photographer and graphic designer based in Milan. She holds a degree in Graphics and Interactive Communication from the University of Ljubljana. She worked as a multimedia artist in Slovenia until she moved to Milan where she focuses mainly on photography. Born in Yugoslavia, a communist country that no longer exists, she has always maintained an artistic and cultural link with her roots in her work. Her practice ranges from fashion to music to cinematic imagery with a special sensitivity towards visual art. She has participated in solo and group exhibitions Paris, Berlin, Belgrade and Slovenia.
Heroides is a collaboration with the Milanese make-up artist Alice Maggioni.
Alice Maggioni is a make-up artist from Milan who has been working mainly in fashion since 2018. After a three-year degree in Foreign Languages and Literature she decided to devote herself to her main passion and become a make-up artist. She sees make-up as a true form of art whose colors, materials and techniques allow for the highest expression of her creativity.

Tiche Synergia e Creative People in Florence sono lieti di presentare Heroides di Slavica Veselinovic, un progetto fotografico sperimentale che, in chiave surrealista, combina mitologia, lontane reminiscenze e un inspiegabile senso d’inquietudine.
Queste fotografie ritraggono due figure femminili rappresentanti “eroine di un Paese perduto”.
Forme geometriche, cerchi e linee dipinti sui volti e le mani nere, i due soggetti incarnano le madri dell'ormai disciolto Eastern Bloc con la sua doppia radice: quella slava e quella mitteleuropea.
Gli elementi con i quali interagiscono le due figure, pur essendo oggetti convenzionali, hanno un significato più profondo.
La pietra lavica rappresenta il legame con la Madre Terra, simbolo di forza e di coraggio, offre stabilità attraverso i mutevoli cambiamenti della vita.
Il polpo è la complessità, la diversità, il mistero e l’illusione. Può mimetizzarsi quando si sente minacciato, ed evitare i pericoli creando un'illusione diventando parte di una roccia o della sabbia. Il velo, o i tessuti che occasionalmente coprono le teste dei due soggetti, rappresentano protezione. Mentre l'uovo è la nuova vita ma anche la perdita dell'innocenza.
Questi elementi, in combinazione con i due soggetti, donano un senso di estraneità a chi osserva. Relegando il tutto a pura illusione: una proiezione mentale piuttosto che la realtà stessa. Ogni immagine è un enigma, una poesia, un atmosfera.
Tiche Synergia, una collaborazione fra Tiche e Creative People in Florence è un nuovo progetto poliedrico a sostegno dell’artigianato, design, e fotografia a Firenze. Il nuovo arioso atelier del brand Tiche, ospiterà una serie di artigiani fiorentini che presenteranno installazioni site-specific, utilizzando i materiali del proprio mestiere. Ogni installazione sarà accompagnata da una selezione di prodotti in vendita, scelta apposta per creare un dialogo con la linea Tiche. Tiche Synergia invita gli artigiani e i fotografi a ri-immaginare gli oggetti del mestiere come opere d’arte oltre al loro valore commerciale, offrendo loro uno spazio per la sperimentazione, la ricerca e l’innovazione.
La dea greca della Fortuna, Tiche, è anche protettrice delle città, e questo risuona in modo nuovo, soprattutto in questo periodo di cambiamento e incertezza. Enfatizzando questa opportunità di crescita, ma anche di sperimentazione e rinnovamento, il titolo del progetto Tiche Synergia rivela i suoi obiettivi principali: creare la scintilla per far nascere nuove idee e nuovi rapporti fra gli artigiani e i designer della città, e immaginare la Firenze del futuro come un luogo di innovazione e collaborazione.
Slavica Veselinovic è una fotografa e graphic designer slovena con base a Milano.
Laureata in Grafica e Comunicazione Interattiva all'Università di Lubiana.
Ha lavorato come artista multimediale in Slovenia, fin quando si è trasferita a Milano dove si è concentrata principalmente sulla fotografia. Nata in Jugoslavia, un paese comunista che non esiste più, nei suoi progetti ha sempre mantenuto un legame artistico e culturale con le sue radici. Il suo lavoro spazia tra moda, musica e un immaginario cinematografico con una speciale sensibilità verso l'arte visiva. Mostre personali e collettive sono state ospitate a Parigi, Berlino, Belgrado e in Slovenia.
Heroides vede la collaborazione con la make up artist milanese Alice Maggioni
Alice Maggioni è una makeup artist di Milano che dal 2018 lavora principalmente nel campo della moda. Dopo una laurea triennale in Lingue e Letterature Straniere ha deciso di dedicarsi alla sua passione principale e diventare truccatrice. Vede il make-up come una vera forma d’arte che può spaziare in diversi colori, materiali e tecniche portando alla massima espressione della propria creatività.
